I've just installed Adobe Creative Suite Design Premium 5.5 on my Win 7 64-bit system, but now I'm having File Association issues. Namely, I cannot associate any non-64-bit applications with the corresponding files. I had CS 5.0 installed previously, but I uninstalled it to not confuse the issue with my working files.

Now the 'Open with.' Box won't recognize any Adobe application except Acrobat and CS5.5's 64-bit Photoshop. How do I fix this? I tried the previously posted Registry edit solution, but it did not work.

My recall on this is not 100%, as I solved this in early November last year and apparently moved on, but I believe it's one of those Adobe situations where CS5.5 must be installed cleanly. This means any previous version must be removed first, and THEN you can install the new suite. I had to confirm this with Adobe, but I believe that was it. This also means you have to have the serial number(s) of the previous Adobe CS suite(s) you own handy. I personally have nest of Post-it notes with previous install numbers and case references stuck to my box of the last few versions. Every major upgrade requires this mess of backup research, but at least now I'm not as surprised each time. Good luck -- they never make it easy, but what fun would that be?
